How Tom's Cure Started
A Letter From Tom's Brother, Dan Arthur
My brother, Tom, was enjoying life to its fullest, planning for his retirement years, being a great Dad and spending every day making a difference in the lives of people he knew. Tom was loved by everyone he crossed paths with on his life's journey - without exception.
Tom lived a healthy lifestyle, exercised regularly and prided himself on taking care of himself physically. Tom was a healthy, vibrant, sixty-one year old when he was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. It wasn’t until then that we learned about the terrible survival statistics and deadly consequences of this type of cancer.
Tom fought this cancer with every bit of strength he could muster up with a positive, ”Never Give Up” attitude. We went from doctor to doctor and city to city looking for the “Silver Bullet” that could win this battle for him. We were sure with his positive attitude, his inner strength and the prayers of countless supporters Tom would be the one that would beat this monster.
We were wrong. Tom survived almost a year after being diagnosed with this horrific cancer, while most people don't make it that long.
With Tom's courage and optimism fresh in our hearts, we have started "Tom's Cure". This is an organization to raise funds to be donated to the research and early diagnosis of Pancreatic Cancer. Our mission is to give the countless number of people like my brother Tom a fighting chance at defeating this cancer when it strikes again, and unfortunately it will.
Any support you can offer "Tom's Cure" will be greatly appreciated. Thanks for taking the time to read this.
